From the article;

When the issue came before a Senate committee, no one spoke out in opposition to the bill. But Wednesday morning, Ray Newman of the Georgia Baptist Convention asked the committee to vote down the proposal.

"We have continued to see encroachment on the Lord's day," he said. "This is something that needs to stop at this point."

Who in the hell appointed this moron keeper of all days of the week? Lord's day my a**. The nerve of some people!

Last time I checked the sun rises and sets on sundays just like it does on every other day. Another delusional zealot that needs a reality check.

Williams and lobbyists for the grocery and convenience store industries pushing the bill noted that no beer, wine or liquor could be sold if the legislation passes

Then, whats the point?

The bill is just to allow local governments to vote on whether they want to approve Sunday sales.

The legislation is only to allow us to vote. The vote that would take place as a result of the legislation, and not the current piece of legislation, is what would allow alcohol to be sold (or to keep things as they are).
