We are looking at Alpharetta or Duluth for a starting point. Husband working in Decatur, I will be working in Marietta. (Schools are no concern, our children are grown.) Would a commute to Decatur from the East side (Marietta) be out of the question?

Moving back to ATL area from Seattle...been away from ATL for 8 years however I am not familiar with other areas of ATL except downtown and Marietta area. Thanks!

That's tough, commute from Marietta to Decatur is going to be awful though it does depend where exactly you are commuting from and to. Additional info would be helpful, price range, type of neighborhood and house you're looking for, etc.

Default Job in Decatur, etc.

Thank you for the response. The only thing we know right now is that spouse's job will be in Decatur (West of Decatur). I will probably try to go back to work in Marietta but that is not certain yet.

We are looking for a nice area that is quiet, safe and has more of a rural setting with biking and walking trails. Looking for new houses in the price range of low end $200k. Schools are not a concern. Actually would prefer a community geared toward an older group.

However, right now looking for an apartment with easy commute to West Decatur (near Emory.) We are looking at Duluth as an option or Alpharetta or maybe even Decatur.

(I used to leave in Paulding County and easy access to the interstates was a real pain.)

Unfortunately the traffic around North/West Decatur is horrendous during rush hour. Emory and CDC have been expanding over the last decade, but there are no new roads and no new transit stops in the area. Clifton, Briarcliff, N.Decatur, and other roads in the area get jam-packed during rush hour, and there is no easy highway access. Marietta to Decatur is around 40 minutes without traffic, and easily over 90 minutes at the peak of rush hour.

Sorry, I wish I had better news for you!
