Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe was arrested overnight for driving under the influence.

The 37-year-old pitcher was taken to the Atlanta city jail.
Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright told the AJC that Lowe was stopped around 10 p.m. on Peachtree Road at Rumson Road.
Right by where I live; anyone know what he was up to last night?

It blows my mind that wealthy sports stars don't spend the money on a car or a cab or a freakin' limo if they wanna go out. Very poor example for the youth that look up to them.

Sorta like movie stars... I guess that SOME folks think that if they have celebrity then they are beyond the reaches of the law. Lindsay Lohan, anyone???

I always take a cab here in O-town and I'm not exactly rich. It blows my mind when any celebrity, rich attorney, whatever gets a DUI. They end up paying way more to defend themselves or for the DUI itself, plus the way that taints your image has to cost you professionally as well. If you're gonna party, do it right, get trashed, have at it, pay someone to drive you, if even a "friend" who would gladly stay sober to have the opportunity to hit the town and be seen with a star.

Not the first time this has happened to him, I don't think. I'm from New England and he was known to have a drinking problem while he pitched for the Red Sox. His problems are not secret. It's too bad. He was a talented pitcher.

Derek Lowe is off to a bad start this season. Getting busted with the booze makes it worse. I hope he gets hsi life and career together.
