Atlanta’s postseason misery is legendary, led by the Braves’ failure to take home a world championship in 13 of 14 playoff appearances from 1991 to 2004. Throw in a Falcons loss in their lone Super Bowl appearance (1999) and a pair of losses by the NBA Hawks in the Eastern Conference finals, and Atlanta rides neck-and-neck with Seattle on the disappointment meter.

Well, its certainly improving. The Braves had 14 consecutive division titles. Granted, only 1 world Series, which is just sad. The Falcons are on their way to being an elite NFL team with 3 straight winning seasons and very good coaches and personnel. The Hawks are a disappointment, as are the Thrashers. But I'm happy with the direction of the Falcons. We'll have to see about the Braves.

I can never resist an opportunity to rant about our sports situation. I've come to the conclusion that any team with the word "Atlanta" to the left of their name is not allowed to win any championships due to some elaborate pro sports conspiracy. They had to give the Braves one or people would get suspicious with all those WS appearances.

I'm a "glass half full" person when it comes to sports. I think our teams are great!

They forgot to mention the annual agony that comes with watching Richt and the Dawgs blow every chance for a decent season.

Anyway, at least Bobby S. Cox is gone now. I'd rather watch the Braves finish dead last than have them consistently get my hopes up and break my heart.

I'm beyond the point of caring about sports, that's what being an Atlanta fan does to you.

As a long time Vikings fan, all I can say is this: there are a lot of people out there who don't equate divisional titles with winning. All they remember is "your team can't win the big one".

At least the Vikes aren't the only NFL team to lose four Super Bowls anymore.

As "miserable" as Atlanta's pro franchises have been through the years, the fact remains that the city is the amateur sports capital of the nation with the facilities, infrastructure and know-how to pull off huge multiple events over and over again with ease. The Olympics and two Super Bowls aside, the city plays host to numerous NCAA tournaments, the College Football Kickoff Classic, the SEC chamionship, the Chick-fil-A Bowl, this year's Wrestlemania event, the world's biggest 10K road race and is home as well to the largest running, tennis and snow skiing clubs in all America. That counts as much or MORE than some overpriced *pro* athletes who can't or won't win a title.
