Default Mableton vs. East Cobb (Price vs. Schools/Resale)

My fiance & I are planning to buy our first home this year. Our budget for a single-family home is $275-$350k. I am debating between East Cobb & Mableton (Oakdale Rd, Queens Mill Rd, Cooper Lake Rd or Buckner Rd). From reading other threads, it seems like most people think that Mableton is up-and-coming, but has terrible schools. East Cobb seems to have the best schools (and consequently a better resale value), but it is very expensive for new homes these days, so I'll have to settle for a used (is that the right term?) home. My fiance & I are not planning to have kids for the next 2-3 years. We work in Cobb near Windy Hill & Powers Ferry. Given this, I wanted to hear from others in the forum to help me make a decision on where to buy a house. Thanks in advance for your opinion!
