I did appear in the paper for my participation at the state preliminaries, but as far as the larger media outlets, it didn't go to that far though. This kind of stuff rarely gets on the news. Violence and other problems sell much more than the good stuff. If it was me, I would be putting this on the airwaves and all over. For me, it is a small part of what goes on within the African-American population, that there are people who are doing things.

So what's your solution? If negatively changing scholastic demographics are such a problem? Because captalism means that people of all colors are going to continue buying houses where they so desire as long as they can afford it.

Agreed.

There are places in the DC area too like Upper Marlboro, MD Woodmore in Largo, MD and Fort Washington, MD.

Although going back to my mention of segregation. You still see in the DC area because you won't find a lot of majority black neighborhoods in VA. Although I like living in the mixed/diverse somewhat gentrifying neighborhood that I currently live in.

This is unfortunately way too true.
I know of those places. Part of my point was that places like that do exist. They don't get the attention that Compton, Oakland, and Watts get. Another part of what I said is to show that being African-American in the USA means learning to live with being in the minority as a whole and adjusting accordingly.
I find diverse areas to be nice as well. I lived in one. For me, at the end of the day, it is the quality of education you get out of a place. To me tests scores aren't a good representation of that. It is mainly about what you have learned. Many people aren't great test takers. However, if a person is learning, being taught well, has motivated teachers that are teaching with depth and quality, high expectation, has access to resources, then that is the scale I use for a quality education. In my elementary school in Marietta, I got all of that. It was in a diverse environment as well.

After rereading your post you are right. Don't think the coffee kicked in yet when I read it before.

In reality the whites in this town have been pushed out of so many areas that the last few remaining white suburbs are looked at negatively by some folks who would like nothing more than to see NO white suburbs in an area like Atlanta with such a strong minority population. If you dont believe me just look at the comments in this forum when anyone asked about a "white" part of town. Yet it is perfectly acceptable to ask about any minority, gay, muslim, atheist, etc.. enclave and NO ONE is allowed to question the posters motives.
This is maybe the dumbest thing I've read in 2011. Sorry but its called "white flight" not "push white".

Please create a time machine and go back where you wish, Charsleton S.C in the early 1800s.

Asians too. We don't follow the whites. We follow the schools and opportunity.

And each other.

It's not just "cheap rent" that attracts black residents to Marietta, but the combination of relatively-good schools in an area of "cheap rent" (relatively-low living costs).
