i've posted on this forum a few times before and I have been looking to relocate to Atlanta for a few years now. So I'm 24 and I'll have a BS in Business with a track in Marketing in May. I'm finishing up my last class now . I'm having a hard time finding a job in Atlanta. My current employer, one of the big four banks, has a location there, but I'm not happy in my current position. The culture is great, but my job is repetitive and stressful and it doesnt pay enough. I don't know where to begin my job search and its so hard from a distance. I can't imagine just relocating w/o a job because I'm afraid I'll get behind financially. The good thing is that I do have family in the area, spread out around the metro however. So does anyone have any advice? What companies should I look into? thanks in advance

One option is to see if you can transfer to a job in atlanta, with your current emp. Even if you dont like working for them. Get here then start looking for a new job while you have a paycheck still comming in.

Since you have family in the metro area locate branches of DOL in these areas and come down and fill out an application to use the local services.

In which specific area of Marketing are you interested?

Home Depot would be an employer that I would put on my list.
Coca Cola
Cox Broadcasting
Many large corporations here if that is a direction you are considering. Many smaller companies, too.

When requesting this type of fyi it is best to be specific.

Well I interned in retail marketing and prior to that sales w/a nonprofit org, I have an interest in sports and advertising. I live in MD/DE at the moment. I've looked into coca-cola and home depot and I'll be applying for some positions.

Ok--there are a lot of options--you will need to strategize, become very organized and 'mentally fit/tough'--it can be done--failure is not an option--lol--Jerry Maguire or someone like that.

Gwinnett County has an excellent recreation department--they may be under severe financial restrictions but it never hurts to get your name in the pot.
