The Peachtree Ridge school cluster in Suwanee is excellent.

Suwanee is a top notch suburb with great schools, but I wouldn't want this commute. I used to commute 4 miles down McGinnis Ferry from Suwanee to Johns Creek (much closer than Alpharetta) in the mornings during rush hour and it regularly took me 40 minutes. Depending on where you are working in Alpharetta, you could easily be looking at an hour. This will likely change when the construction on McGinnis Ferry is complete, but no one knows how much of a better commute it will be, because more cars will likely drive on it when it's done.

Alpharetta has top notch schools and is a wonderful area to raise a family. I would live in Alpharetta on the side of 400 where you work, to minimize your commute. There is a ton of traffic in North Fulton County.
