The problem is, some people never grow and are in a perpetual state of immaturity. Every problem in their life is someone else fault but their own. In the city-data world, that disorder is extended to whole cities. "My life doesn't suck, {insert city here} sucks and if only I could get away it would be better".
People like that just kind of drift through life until they figure out that the problem is "closer to home" or they die.
Yup. Those folks should take it from us (well, me anyway) older guys who have learned this truism, sometimes the hard way.
Funny how the armchair psychologists of CD come out in force and start hurling insults like "immature" whenever someone voices an OPINION that paints a less-than-rosy picture of Atlanta. You'd have thought I'd pulled a Sherman with some of these responses.
"Shes miserable there best friends with back2dc"
And Mike, I'd appreciate if you'd stop trying to live up to the overdramatic and effeminate gay stereotype by calling me a "she." You know damn well I'm a straight male if you have any sort of reading comprehension whatsoever(which I highly doubt sometimes).

The majority of members from Atlanta don't argue against negative comments about our city simply because they are "less-than-rosy". We are not blind to issues in Atlanta. But I do have a problem with some of the unreasonably harsh criticism that comes out in some of these threads...and this one has a suspiciously overly-negative premise.
Your original comment in this thread wasn't unreasonable. You stated your opinion without offensive or untrue remarks and it was not disrespectful. I didn't have a problem with it at all. But there are many on this site who would agree with you about Atlanta, yet don't present their opinions in an acceptable manner. That's where the possibility of immaturity creeps in.
You can count me as one of the Atlanta members who doesn't normally react harshly to respectfully stated opinions, no matter if I'm in agreement or not. There are of course some that do, but they aren't the majority.
Oh come on... Can I not gripe without you people griping about my griping. I answered the guy's question. Would it have been better if I said "Atlanta is a crime-infested sh*thole with enormous problems due to decades of mismanagement and general apathy amongst most of its citizens?" Honestly sometimes I feel that way. I can turn it up a notch you know.
And yes, I'm working on moving somewhere else.
"Too bad all those neighborhoods are segregated in NYC"
yeah Tony...
Check out the map. NYC is one of most segregated cities in America

I agree.
Criticism is good because it spurs action. I have plenty to criticize about Atlanta from the crazy zoning ordinances, stupid ordinances regarding street food, the way the downtrodden are treated like animals, to dozens of other issues.
But with those problems I see opportunities to become better than what we are and don't let it change my love for this town.
I also find that there is some confusion with the negative Nancy's in regard to those who are super pro-Atlanta: None of us think that Atlanta should stay the way it is currently. Corner any of the regular posters and they will have a laundry list of things this city needs to do to become better.
Being negative about the problems we do have as a city, and acting like Atlanta is some sort of worthless cesspool, is unproductive and a waste of time.

Very good point. Extremes of any kind are usually less than welcome.

You have stated the same opinions over and over again its becoming more of a RANT than and opinion.
what I find interesting is that posters from bigger cities say they don't like atlanta some of the atl posters will say that happiness comes from within...however those same atl posters bash cities such as charlotte and denver when atlanta is compared... don't dish it if u can't take it.. lol..

You would be better off actually reading the responses before posting a comment like this. We have already discussed the apparent immaturity of some members and how it shines through in their comments.
