Was the helicopter really necessary at Screen on the Green? Well, maybe it was | Atlanta News & Opinion Blog | Fresh Loaf | Creative Loafing Atlanta

So APD may go all out when its more than 100 goons in one location.

It's embarrassing to the entire city. I'd be ashamed to mention this to friends of mine from elsewhere. Many already suspect we're a bunch of redneck yahoos down here and idiots like that confirm it.

Screen on the Green, welcome to the "Cool Things Ruined by Atlanta's Thugs Hall of Fame." You join the likes of other infamous inductees of Atlanta's past, such as the original Underground Atlanta, the Lenox Square Mall movie theater, and the old Buckhead.

Seriously though, will someone put this event out of its misery? Move it north to either Atlanta Memorial Park or Chastain Park, slap a new name on it, and be done with it.

Hmm it would be an interesting experiment to have it at Chastain.

So is Midtown a bad place now?

No, but as I have said multiple times, Atlanta has to be very careful with what they put close to a MARTA station. A free movie three blocks from MARTA is asking for it.

And this is a prime example of why people are opposed to expanding Marta.
