I don't think I misunderstood you. Are you saying there's no way a bus driver should ever be able to make 72K in a year, no matter how long they've been driving or how many overtime hours they work?

I guess what I'm saying is, I don't have an opinion about whether the guy is overpaid or not, because I don't have the necessary information. I don't think you have it either.

Yes, that is basically what I am saying.

According to this (PDF), the top hourly rate for drivers (2009) is $19.54/hour. That doesn't strike me as outrageous.

Which works out to nowhere near $72,000 a year. Even with an additional 20 hours overtime/week(which is EXTREMELY unlikely to be granted at any REAL job) it works out to less than $72,000.

The guy is way overpaid.

If drivers get time-and-a-half for overtime, he's in the neighborhood. Add in holiday pay, and he's probably there.

My point is just that MARTA's pay rates seem reasonable, and I don't see any reason to assume this guy earned his wages illegitimately. If those two things are true, I'm not sure what there is to complain about.

Did you not read the article?

WTF? Of course I read the article. It says the guy made "more than $72,000," and that's all it says about his salary. It doesn't say what his base pay rate is. It doesn't say how much overtime he worked. It doesn't mention holiday pay.

The article also suggests that he's a d-bag. If your argument is that d-bag bus drivers should never earn $72,000 in a year, you should have just said so. I'll go even further and say that d-bags shouldn't be bus drivers and bus drivers shouldn't be d-bags, regardless of pay.

If that's the case, though, I don't think there's any evidence in the article for your suggestion that MARTA had to raise its fares because they pay their d-bags too much.

And finally, if you could think in more than one sentence at a time, perhaps we could either agree or disagree and get this over with a little more quickly.

I figured you would've picked that up. How many more hints could I have possibly dropped?

Mike, don't you have some sort of parade to attend or something? How can you still be such a flamer in this heat?

And I complain strictly about Atlanta. Marta is included in that.
