Default Moving to GA from CT: Need Advice Please!

Hello we are possibly relocating due to job. The job is near the Atlanta Country Club (East of I-75 and North of 285, near I-75/285 intersection).

We have a 1 year old and a small dog. Looking for a safe neighborhood, good schools, nice parks. Looking to spend in the $400K for a house. A high priority is a short commute (less than 30 mins). Would like to be close to nice food markets like Whole Foods. We have been told to look at homes in the "East Cobb" area and Roswell. We found a nice community near Horseshoe Bend Country club but we are nervous about the traffic to work.

Do you have recommendations for nice communities that are kid/pet friendly and traffic flow is not a nightmare?

Is living on the east side of hwy 400 in the Horseshoe Bend area going to be traffic nightmare to get to work that is near I-75/285 intersection)?

Thanks!

Hi--

we moved to Milton ( North Fulton County) from Winnetka, Illinois last summer. Traffic in and around Atlanta is really intense, especially during morning and afternoon school and work commute time.

Not familiar with the subdivision you are looking at, but Roswell is a cute funky town with great restaurants. Good luck with your search, we are really happy here.

Choose East Cobb. Fantastic neighborhoods, top state public schools, and excellent amenities. Johnson Ferry Road is your road to all the shopping, including a Trader Joe's, a Fresh Market, and The Avenues at East Cobb, which is an outdoor mall. For a Whole Foods, the closest one would be the one in Sandy Springs (off of Roswell Rd).

Properties in the Indian Hills Country Club area would be nice as are subdivisions off of Lower Roswell Road. With your budget, you will likely have to go with an older subdivision/neighborhood. But there are lots of deals to be had nowadays.

I would avoid having to get on GA 400/285 if I were you. And I would definitely not choose the Horsebend Country Club, for commute purposes. I am telling you now - you will never be able to make it to work in under 30 minutes from there. Period. The traffic along the top end Perimeter is a nightmare in both directions, both times of day. And the backroads are just as bad.

Your best best is to stick close to your work. It's a great neighborhood (East Cobb) and I think you would be very happy there.
