I would never ask questions about Miami in the Atlanta forum. You are going to get nothing but biased results who assume you are living and working in Miami-Dade County. In which case, yeah, Hablos Espanol?

Well, in my opinion you are not going to get a better quality of life in Miami. I was born and raised there and I would not recommend that area to anybody. I moved to Ft. Lauderdale thinking it would be better...the improvement was not much.

Feel free to visit the Florida forum and read for yourself. People wonder why people are so negative on that forum I totally understand them, because I lived there for years!!

I personally do not know one person that loves South Florida. They stay there because of a job, or family, or fear of change. It is not much of a sample, but it is my reality.

Good Luck

Why would you move to the city of Fort Lauderdale to improve your life? Thats like moving into inner city Atlanta. Moving to Weston is like moving to Alpharetta. Moving to Coral Springs is like moving to Duluth (except Coral Springs is safer, and doesn't have the Asians). Tell me how this is different from any other metro area? You are all fooling yourselves into thinking the actual quality of life offered in Atlanta is somehow higher. What it IS would be more attainable, except you spend less time enjoying what you attained and more time sitting in your nice leather seats dealing with a caliber of whacko drivers that is just as high as what is found in Florida while you are stopped dead on the I-85...And yes, I have been to Atlanta. I've been there several times. I even had the choice to move there! Guess where I picked? I didn't really like the people in Atlanta. They still insist on de-facto segregation up there, and I encountered the same exact "materialism" in Alpharetta as I did in Weston. Where are these "family values" that you all speak of? The crime is actually higher up there as a whole, too. You only precieve the grass as being greener because yes, you want change. I also know very few people who dislike it here. I actually know quite a few people who love it down here. The people in real life, outside of this forum that have interests in those "grass is greener" cities seem to have personal issues that are unrelated to where they live. They just decide to let go of them when they leave, when if they would of just resolved their personal issues where they were, things would of been as good as anywhere for them.

The Florida forum is a mess because a massive group of people who have bigger issues than Florida decide to corrupt the posting environment and prospectively locate to a city like Atlanta and wear rose colored glasses about the problems when they arrive. Do I seem undereducated? No. So why did we locate to South Florida? Because it has some of the best places to live in the country.

Point is, both area offer a potentially high AND a potentially really low quality of life, and yes, Atlanta offers more opportunity for the OP's career and costs a lot less. Not claiming superiority of South Florida (it certainly is NOT) or inferiority of Atlanta. I just felt compelled to reply to the post above.

Is miami really bad, i was considering to move their soon. What i am reading is that Atlanta appears to be more of a better living than miami. what about in the aventura and country club areas is it good live. Although the rent market is very pricey.

Read my post in your thread. Don't live in Miami Dade County. Both areas have some areas that are great, and others that are the pits. You just need to be guided in the right direction about south Florida and Atlanta, since both have much to offer. .

Well, what I was getting at indirectly, is that if you're a "damn good singer" then go to NYC. Otherwise, Seattle, Nashvile, or Portland might be it (depending on what you sing). I just don't see Atlanta (unless you're a rapper) or Miami to be "it". Just my personal opinion and nothing more. This is of course if the singing career is your top priority - if quality of life is all you're worried about in general, the results may be different for you.

Well with that type of mixture of song style I would say you fit into what A&R's in Atlanta, NYC and LA are trying to find. Atlanta is a great place for the R&B, Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Pop Scene and you seem to have a interesting mix of style that would seem to do well. With the sheer amount of talent that resides here you can tap into the circle since the nightlife scene here is so close to the industry in that "industry" people here are easily accesible since Atlanta is really a smaller version of Atlanta & NYC in that sense.

Moderator cut: RemovedI have plenty of friends who work in the music industry and since I'm psuedo entrenched on what's going on with the scene, from what I know being here for 9 years, it's plentiful here. You just have to get here network and see where it takes you like anywhere else. But the structure of labels, A&R's, radio stations, etc. are here so get down here and make it happen!

When I think of these 'artists' (save shania twain) I think of Miami. When I think of the Atlanta "scene" I think rap mixed with Usher, and a twinge of eclectic Outkast...

In my opinion, Miami would be better. The "vibes" each of the cities give off are totally different. If you're into a more carefree, beachy, latin vibe go to Miami. Atlanta is ... devoid of that vibe.

A friend of mine told me to look into Georgia, as many artists have better luck there than Miami. I know it's a long shot, but would anyone know about this? Anybody have advice or knowledge about this industry in Atlanta?? Please help.
Hi:

I know a music producer who used to live in Miami and he decided to move to Georgia. Lot less expensive here, houses, insurance, cost of living, educations, etc.
Atlanta is quiet and at the same time very active and easy to fly anywhere around the world. If I can help, please let me know.
Victor

You don't need a lot of Spanish here in Georgia. In Miami it helps. Miami is so expensive that make me sick. My sister in law just purchase a small house in Miami for $385,000, insurance about $7,000 a year.
In the other hand, in Atlanta my house is 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath, 2 car garage, 1/2 acre lot, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen with breakfast table, nice yard, all of his for $165,000 in Cobb County with excellent schools.
I have been n Georgia for 30 years since I moved from Puerto Rico in 1977. Good luck, Victor
