Here are the cliff notes:

Budget for a home 4-600k, looking for suburbs

within 30 miles of downtown, but a lot to do nearby

Good schools

close to some lakes

Thanks!

When you say close to lakes - are you looking for fishing, swimming or boating?

Atlanta does not have many lakes throughout the city. Most lakes are destination areas where you would go on the weekend. There is lake living on some of the lakes but not typically within a 30 minute drive of downtown.

Boating. I would love to be able to head to a lake every weekend. Alpharetta seems to be the spot from what I have been reading, close to Lanier.

Hard to beat Alpharetty and the other northern suburbs. I don't think you'd go wrong anywhere up there.
