Will be relocating to atlanta from the midwest. We want a stable area with homes under 10 years old with trees and maybe about 1/4 to 1/2 acre and 3 or 4 bedrooms. We hope to spend about 275-300 for a home. We would like to have lakes, golf course, nature trails (walks) in rather close proximity. any advice on the newnan, douglasville, sharpsburg, peachtree areas is appreciated. Any other areas??

Jane

All of these areas are great but you could broaden your search a little further north to Loganville, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Buford, and on toward Lake Lanier. Where will you be working. This should determine where you live. Almost all the cities mentioned will give you the amenities you mention...

houses are cheaper in the Newnan area, and there's more of a rural feel

Depending on where you are going to be working would really narrow things down. I've lived both north of ATL and now south and hands down I like the southside better. My husband was born and raised here and always had some kind of stigma attached to the "southside"...he has completely changed his mind and will never live on the northside again. Too much traffic, and chaos. We're in Newnan, and we have everything we could possibly need. They're building new commercial everywhere, as well as new homes...my vote is definately Newnan.
BTW- not sure, but from what I've heard, Douglasville might not be the demographic you're looking for...at least it's very different than Newnan.
