This might be an inappropriate response, but...

I disagree.

It's our ability as Americans to be rational and enlightened human beings that are able to utilize these legal tools that separate us from unevolved societies. Those unevolved societies would simply take it to the streets and use extrajudicial means to physically harm or kill the person(s) deemed responsible for the initial harm. As much as I dislike a lot of corporate CEOs, I don't want to see the latter scenario happening.

Are there people who misuse the court system for the sake of pure greed? Of course, as well as there's always gonna be abuse with any system.

But we shouldn't allow the conservative leanings of the mainstream corporate media influence us into determining what is acceptable in order to pursue recourse and what is not. We should reform the legal system to prevent abuse...but we shouldn't curtail it.

We human beings need these legal tools to resolve our anger, our outrage and our pain in a just & swift fashion. If we deny our fellow Americans even that much...then we are surely begging for the end of civilization.

Just sayin'...

Apparently the guy was a licensed engineer as well.

He must have missed class the day they went over not doing completely idiotic things.

Sheesh - just saw that there are three lawsuits now. Seems like that family must be a bit dysfuntional and can't decide who has custody of the daughter. Very sad.

The father is suing for himself. The mother is suing on part of the granddaughter and estate of her daughter. The daughter is suing on part of her mom's estate. I'm sure the latter 2 will be combined into one lawsuit in the future.
