Who the H-E-Double-L is Frank Ski? Never heard of the dude. Neither have most people who live in Buckhead, most likely.

Plenty of people in Buckhead know who Frank Ski is. He just happens to be the host of the Frank & Wanda Show, and the host of the Annual Frank Ski celebrity wine auction at his Dunwoody mansion.

Frank and Wanda Morning Show – Atlanta, Urban, Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Black Hollywood - V-103 - The People's Station (http://v103.radio.com/shows/frank-and-wanda-morning-show/ - broken link)

Maybe plenty, but definitely not most. I assure you.

If they don't know who he is they should.

Why? Because he is a black DJ/Radio host?

Local radio personalities are generally not well known. Esp now with the plethora of media outlets and pseudo celebrities.

If you think the average Buckhead resident goes anywhere near V-103 on their radio dial.....

No, because he is an influential person on the Atlanta scene and because he is supporting charities that benefit everyone.

Plus, when somebody was opening a restaurant in my hood I like to know who they are and make friends with them.

FYI: Most Buckheaders dont refer to the area as a "hood". You see, ghetto flavored slang is not common place, or as cool, as you may think.

There are charities that benefit "everyone"? Wow, Ive never known such a thing could exist.

Okay, those are valid criticisms. I use "hood" sometimes just because it's easier to say and type.

Obviously many charities do benefit the community as a whole. Look at things like the enormous gifts to institutions like Grady, Piedmont and other hospitals. Or the gifts to Piedmont Park, which exists entirely on private donations. Institutions like the High Museum, the Symphony and many others are funded solely by private benefactors. Or the Atlanta Education Fund, which empowers young Atlantans.

As for Mr. Ski's charities, I agree that they may not benefit the entire community. I honestly don't know whether they are targeted or not.

Tiger, there's really no need to create an argument where there isn't one. Fine, you don't know or care who Frank Ski is, we get it. I frankly don't listen to his show either, but I at least know who the guy is, he's had countless articles written about him in local publications over the years highlighting the various things he's done in the city as Arjay has already explained. I don't listen to Neal Boortz, Bert Weiss but if you've lived in the city for any length of time you'll recognize these names.
