Just from reading a few pages of the thread...the poster I responded to isn't giving me the vibe that he understands that. I mean, if I remember what I read correctly, he stated that he exclusively dates outside of his race because he can't deal with women who listen to r&b/hip-hop/whatever (kind of like an "I'm better than you" vibe) but at the same time, seems to be lamenting the fact that black folks won't give him the time of day. If he gives off that elitist attitude around any black folks that he meets, I can see why!

What I'm trying to say is that it's kind of sad that the poster refuses to date Black women because he likes Depeche Mode/Lenny Kravitz and thinks that all black women have such a myopic view on what constitutes being Black. I almost wonder who was he surrounding himself with because the Black folks I hang out with see nothing wrong with interracial dating and don't fit into society's box of what we should do because we're black. (for example: listen to only hip-hop, eat soul food all the time, etc etc)

But I have gotten some stares from people, but who cares, let them look. I'm very open minded to other races. I think its kind of fun to learn and date someone who is totally different in culture. So, I don't see the problem.

You obviously haven't seen the fine well-rounded women at Spelman College & Hampton University who can go toe-to-toe with any school. Some of the dime pieces who I know and interact with from those schools are very well off (Honorable mention to Howard, Clark Atlanta and FAMU). Even Georgia State is coming up here in Atlanta on the radar now-a-days. To each his own.

I say do what works for you. I have tried to date interacially and it just never works for me. I would never discourage another sista from doing it. The only problem I ever had was with black men dating interacially, and them putting down sistas in the process. I never downed brothas as an excuse to date interacially, so I don't feel like they should do the same. Like I said, if it works for you and makes you happy, then by all means do it. The ones that make the smart comments are usually the ones that aren't about ish....so I would just ignore it. I've never had friends say they've had an issue with it either.

No they used his Tip Drill video and his lyrics as a forum to attack him...but in turn they started their own organization to collect donors for the marrow search to encourage other people to donate which I did myself when I attended school in the AUC.
