Quick question...Im new to the forums so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat question.

Is there a way to get tested for the magnet schools without being a current resident of the city? My family plans to relocate next summer, our children are currently in magnet schools here and I would prefer to start them in magent schools once we move if possible. We wouldnt have an address before June 2012 but I have no problem bringing them down for testing if necessary.

I think you can call and ask, but I doubt it. School starts here in early August and most magnet processes are finished by the end of February.

Cobb has some very strong schools and only has a couple of magnets anyway. You might find that a magnet isn't necessary here.

In addition, magnets are capacity controlled, so there is no guarantee that space will be available.
