Does anyone know what was going on tonight? I was coming home from the Braves game (had family in town) and driving back to my apartment on 10th Street I saw hundreds of ghetto black teenagers along 10th acting like idiots, several police lights, and a police helicopter which was flying around for about 2 hours. Last time I saw it like this was last year when that riot broke out.

It was really embarrassing especially since I have family in town and they saw all of this. Does anyone know if something happened again???

If something happened at "Screen on the Green", then a whole lotta people ignored it. I was just there tonight and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. There were lots of teens there, but that isn't necessarily a problem....

This frustrates me because a lot of people have worked hard to make Midtown a nice neighborhood and you have these idiots that come here and cause chaos. Between last year, this incident, and how Stanton Park was already vandalized it's like a constant reminder that people in this city are animals and we can't have nice things.

At least the police were on it and caught the moron pretty quickly.

Isn't there a curfew or something that would give the police the legal right to detain these juvenile idiots?

This is one of the reasons I rarely go to Atlanta. I got lost one time leaving the World Congress Center and ended up at Techwood Homes. My car was surrounded by a gang of guys hollering "20.00 dollars a rock, 20.00 a rock" They were selling crack. I've had a car pull up beside me and thug flashed a gun.

But on the flip side 2 months ago I was coming back from Alabama and took a wrong exit (quit laughing!!! I'm horrible at directions lol) and ended up somewhere where there are a lot bars and lots of weird people walking around lol. It was a very small side street but I can't remember what the area was called. I pulled up to a redlight and car full of black gals helped me get back to 75 north. I was so grateful because it was late and I was pissed off anyway having to go to Alabama and back lol.

^Techwood hasn't existed in 15 years. Atlanta's changed quite a bit in that amount of time.

I kind of figured something went wrong when I saw the low flying helicopter buzz by Spire a little after midnight. Given the # of police surrounding the station, you would think that the douches would figure out its not a great place to pick a fight or to pull a gun. That said, it was an unusual crowd to go watch 16 Candles...given most of them weren't born until long after John Hughes/brat pack films were out of style.

Maybe Marta should just raise the fare to get off at the Midtown station since that's where most of the drama comes from.

That's nice to know Mishap! It was a scary area I remember! Also scary that it was that long ago lol. I was working the Boat Show at the World Congress Center when that happened and when I was parking, 2 HUGE black cops came up to me and said to be sure and hide all belongings in my trunk. I wouldn't live in an area like that if you paid me to. The cops escorted me into the center.

What is there now?

When there are black people there are always cops. It doesn't matter what the event is either. Heck I went to a friend of mines graduation out in griffin and it was at this church. There were maybe 20 black graduates out of class of 200. Yet, It looked like they brought the entire swat team to man the event! I mean really.. who is that ratchet that they are going to disrupt a peaceful event like graduation? I think its similar to what happens when you build highways. Latent demand. You build them out to 16 lanes.. sooner or later your going to get 16 lane traffic. You bring cops expecting trouble...your going to get trouble. If anything I think its just that African Americans, in general, are loud people. That scares folks and they expect trouble.

Bingo. I was there too and I did not know something happened until I opened up the AJC this morning.

As for the rest of you, y'all suck in various ways that I do not have the energy to go in to at the moment.
