What kind of planes? Airliners, corporate jets, military, private prop, ultralight, ...

Ordinarily Milton is too far north to be much affected by Hartsfield traffic, but if there are thunderstorms in the area (as there has been recently) they may get sent in unusual ways. Milton isn't really on the approach path for PDK either, although a plane lining up for the approach might be doing so that far out.

Next time it happens take a look at this website
FlightAware > Airport Activity > Hartsfield-Jackson Intl Airport (Atlanta, GA) [KATL]

It show all the planes that ATC is tracking, (time is ~10? min offset from real time for security reasons).

Watch it and see where the planes are going to/from.

More than likely- corporate jets heading into or out of PDK.
THe LOM (locating outer marker) is at Holcomb Bridge and Spalding Dr. That your mark for final approach to runway 20L.
I'm at Old Alabama/Haynes Br area- and see corporate/small aircraft traffic all day heading toward that marker.

We are in Milton, and haven't noticed anything different either. We do have a lot of private planes and helicopters overhead. One plane in particular is garaged right next to our neighborhood. Every time this guy takes off we cross our fingers that he will clear our trees. He was here long before we were though.

Default where does the plane fly in from

when it approaches Atlanta from LaGuardia? all my flights seemed to come in at the same area(it lowers down over I 285 where you can see the Camp Creek Rd exit sign) except for my last flight in where it flew over what appeared to be the Atl skyline. prior to this last flight i never saw the skyline before
