northwinds, I'm pleased your kids are doing so well. I'm real proud of my grandchildren here in the city schools too -- they are terrific.

However, I wonder at the schadenfreude that some non-city residents seem to be enjoying. Many of us here intown have been outraged with Hall for several years. Too many schools have been under-performing and the system has been spending money like it's a mega-church. But it's not easy to oust someone under our circumstances.

How come y'all are enjoying seeing us and our kids go through this crap? Do you have a dog in this fight? We're going to get through it all right but these are not happy times for us. What's with the har-de-har-har?

Yep, I own real estate in the grand city of Atlanta....so I get to pay for the $100,000 chauffeur and Beverly's Maui vacation as well....not to mention the 98% free lunches and breefusses, etc. The difference between me and you is that I am seriously pissed off about this and don't want to put up with it any more! I'm not "enjoying" any of this...I am pissed off. Unfortunately, the liberal whites, and "jobs programs" blacks don't seem to give a sh#t about what's going on....they think everything is "OK".....note the lack of indictments....has the Mayor spoken out about that....how about Andy Young...darn we built a statue of him and named a street after him...Hank Aaron?......rhetorical questions.....

I can't fathom what you're talking about.

I just said we've been outraged about this for years -- including the chauffeur and the Maui trip. I've said that in about a dozen other posts in this thread. I've also attended many meetings about this situation over the last two years and talked to a number of elected officials, educators and civic leaders. That would include several members of council, the school board, county commissioners, state senators and representatives, reporters, and many others. If you've been following this you know they are all ballistic.

So why do you say that's "the difference between me and you"? Exactly what difference are you talking about?

Our education tax dollars at work.

Hall's legal fees $127K, and possibly rising

The latest figures released from Atlanta Public Schools show the district has been billed $127,386 by former Superintendent Beverly Hall for legal fees associated with the state 2009 testing investigation.
We certainly wouldn't want Dr. Hall to come out of pocket for defending herself against allegations of cheating, bullying and creating a climate of fear in the school system.

It shouldn't take more than a couple of dozen city residents to cover these bills.

Interesting comparison to the Atlanta Cheating Scandal in the last part of the article.

The silver-lining for Atlanta/Georgia: We should be proud that our state conducted a thorough, professional, and comprehensive investigation.
