Default Battle of the 'Hooch: Sandy Springs vs. Dunwoody vs. Peachtree Corners

If you were looking to live in a house that sits on the Chattahoochee River, which city do you find most desirable? I have included some examples of where in each city you would have to live to be on the river.

Sandy Springs

Huntcliff Trace, Huntcliff

huntcliff trace, Sandy Springs, GA - Google Maps

Dunwoody

River Gate Drive, River Gate

Peachtree Corners

River Bottom Drive, Neely Farm

Just to clarify - I only included these three because they are south of the River. An equivalent thread for north of the river would be East Cobb vs. Roswell vs. Johns Creek.

Well, technically you couldn't live in the city of Dunwoody and be on the river. But if you mean Dunwoody panhandle area which is Sandy Springs, then that would probably be my choice...especially one of the houses on Brandon Mill that back up to the 'hooch.

Some of the neighborhoods that are off of Riverside Drive in SS and sit on the bluffs above the Hooch are just gorgeous.

My in-laws live off of Riverside, east of Johnson's Ferry. There house sits on the side of the street opposite the river, but their front porch has an awesome view of the valley. Like being in the mtns.

Hi spacelord,

I didn't know about Dunwoody proper and living on the River itself, so good tip there. Many very beautiful areas along the river or even close to it for that matter.

My first thought is the Roswell part long the river, but it is not a choice in this particular poll. I would choose Dunwoody over the other areas, but they are all pretty close in running for me personally to live.

Also, some outsiders may not know 'Hooche - for the beautiful Chattahoochee river but I see this is more of a thread for us who are already here. And I do like those threads, of course.

I would like to live in a house on the 'hooch one day. I would settle for all three, but I voted for Peachtree Corners just to give my hometown some loving. However, if I had to pick, I would go with Riverside in Sandy Springs. The Dunwoody Panhandle, in particular a home in one of the Spalding Drive neighborhoods, would be my second choice. The plus for neighborhoods in Peachtree Corners that abut the river would be that they are newer and tend to have more amenities (swim and tennis). Neely Farm actually has its own private river park.

Vinings and Buckhead are also 'hooch communities, albeit in an entirely different league.

For the most part, most Atlanta's wealthy enclaves follow alongside the Chattahoochee--

Starting in the south and going north:

Vinings
Buckhead
Sandy Springs
Chattahoochee Plantation
East Cobb
Roswell
Dunwoody Panhandle
Peachtree Corners
Johns Creek
Berkeley Lake
North Duluth
South Forsyth
Suwanee
