Squeakster, it's important to never forget your past. Otherwise, you run a much stronger chance of making the same mistake again in the future.

I'm not talking about forgetting the past. I am talking about NOT GLORIFYING IT!! The German government does not glorify Nazism, and it is a crime to wave a Nazi flag throughout Germany. Yet it's okay to wave the flag of racism, xenophobia, and segregation throughout the United States. When we allow that to occur, then we cede the high ground, and have no right to criticize other nations.

Obviously, your opinions were framed by the culturally Marxist media and academia. Otherwise, you'd know the truth. Oh well.

Have you ever noticed that the cities and states that integrated peacefully are a hell of a whole lot more developed economically, a lot more populous, and a lot more multiethnic and open than their southern counterparts?

---Atlanta
---Charlotte
---Research Triangle Area (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC)
---Miami
---Tampa
---Orlando
---Dallas
---Houston
---Austin, TX.
---Nashville, TN.

I don't see a heck of a lot of people moving to Birmingham, Jackson, Miss., or Memphis. And you can include New Orleans (pre and post-Katrina) and Little Rock, Arkansas in there as well. Those cities are paying for their trangressions generations later with stereotypes, real and imagined, and I don't feel sorry for them in the least bit.
Totally simplified.

Finally, all cultural identities aren't equal, nor worth preserving. I find nothing redemptive about the redneck culture of racial superiority and segregation, nor do most sane-minded people in this country---and the Atlanta area, in particular. Hell, who wants to remember the Confederate past? A bunch of TRAITORS and REDNECKS dedicated to preserving a social ideology of hate and division. LET IT GO!! YOU LOST (THANKFULLY)!!
"Rednecks" [A pejorative directed at white southerners.]
"Traitors" [Lincoln was the true traitor.]
"Hate" [Anything that runs counter to a cultural marxist point of view, or anyone who disagrees with a liberal (cultural marxist).

Would you rather Atlanta be portrayed as "Ghetto City, USA" or "Any City, USA"? Atlanta playing the part of "Southern City, USA" went the way of dial-up internet, beepers, and other 90s novelties.
How is a movie about college marching bands ghetto? If you think anything dealing with black people is ghetto then you are in the wrong part of the country.

If not thinking that one race of people is inferior and not worthy of anything but serving some "superior race" is "Marxist" you don't know what the word means. Carl Marx would have never agreed to low wages, much less slavery and inequality.

It appears that you've been fed a false understanding (by crafty Southern snake oil salesmen) of why the South wanted to withdraw from the union.

I shouldn't have included Drumline.
