That's okay. Tech still had a great bowl game this year and we should be proud of them. I think that is the whole point.

Yeah...they salvaged the season finishing at 0.500. Think they'll receive a Top 25 ranking?

I didn't see the game but apparently it was very windy and with USC a passing team and GT running the triple option, that alone favored GT.

But, Mathman, they won their bowl game!!!! That, in and of itself, it's terrific!!!! They finished their season on a high note. Let's don't take that away from them.

Why? They had a .500 record before playing their Conference Championship game, a game they nearly won.

They came out and showed why they deserved to be in a bowl game.

20 years ago would they have made a bowl game, no. However, the bowl system has changed to the point where any team with a pulse makes a game. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Congrats indeed to GT. Nice feather in UGA's cap to have the team we just absolutely crushed go on to have a very solid bowl victory against a quality opponent. Kudos.

Re: bowl eligibility--yeah, 6 wins is more important than .500 these days. But still, just to troll Tech fans I'll put an asterisk on their bowl eligibility streak forevermore.

For those who are unaware, people keep track of bowl eligibility streaks, and Georgia and Georgia Tech were tied for the fourth longest bowl eligibility streak in NCAA (behind VT, FSU, and Florida, who are regular opponents/rivals of UGA and GT coincidentally).

Bowl Streaks

Longest bowl appearance streaks as of 2012 season:

1. Florida State 31
2. Florida 22
3. Virginia Tech 20
4. Georgia 16
5. Georgia Tech 16*

According to Mark Bradley in the AJC, Tech had to ask for and got a waiver from the NCAA to be bowl eligible. So, it's sort of an unearned bowl trip.
