Default Job in tucker, looking for places to stay

Moving to Atlanta next month. My job is in tucker GA. We liked a few apartments in Alpharetta and norcross but the commute from there to Tucker seems just too much. Can you please suggest any good apartments near to tucker like in areas of lilburn, lawrenceville or stone mountain or any other area nearby. I am Asian Indian and would prefer some Indian community around since my parents visit once or twice a year.

Not sure what price range you're finding with the apartments, but, why not rent a house? It's definitely a renters market these days - TONS of them available.

There are some nice ones in Tucker and Lilburn, with communities you're seeking.

I would recommend you try the Decatur area, specifically zip code 30033 or possibly 30030. The main roadway through this area is Hwy 78 which turns into Scott Blvd and then Ponce De Leon Rd which goes into midtown. In the north Decatur area, there are several large facilities where the Indian community worships and there are some very good Indian restaurants. I believe one is Zyka which is a restaurant that is run out of the kitchen of the religious center on that site. I'm caucasian and have lived in Tucker for 9 years. I've eaten at Zyka many times and the food is authentic Your commute from Decatur would be going against the normal flow of traffic during rush hour. Another area to consider would be Northlake, its in Tucker, but very diverse and also very close to north Decatur.

My dry cleaner in Tucker (Zam's cleaners) is of Indian descent and she recommended Zyka to me some years ago.

There is a fairly new apartment complex at the intersection of I-285 and Hwy 78 that may be a fit for you. I don't know the name of it but you can see if from the road its very large. I believe its on Montreal Rd. My neighbors family owned the parcel of land that the apartments were built on, it was a farm until about 5 -7 years ago.

Are you talking about "Five Oaks"? My son lived there three years. He loved it. Had a really nice 1BR w/fireplace and then moved into a 2BR for a couple of years. If I remember right.. it was a Tucker address...

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. We will check out 5 oaks. It gives a good idea about the area. We are looking in the range of 700-1000 for 1br or 2BR. My husband has to go to greenville, SC quite frequently for work and hence we are trying to stay in areas closer and something that would get him fast out of atlanta.

Where are you moving from? Will you have some time to pick where to live before actually moving here?

Depending on the area, you could rent a 3 bdrm house for $1000.
