Question Moving to Conyers maybe??

hi im new to the site and im originally from boston mass. i live in oregon now my husband is in the coast guard and we are permanently moving to georgia june 2008. my father in law just built a brand new house in conyers its a beautiful home but i was reading some of the messages and im not sure now if i want to move there! i'll give u a little info on my family so any advice is greatly appreciated! im portuguese i have an 11 yr. old son from a previous relationship (he's white) my husband is african american and i have a 4 yr old daughter im just wondering about interracial couples near atlanta area or in conyers? what school systems are better or any better surrounding towns that i could move to that are near conyers? i read about a few break ins in some houses and my husband will not be living with us full time because of his job so i really am cautious about staying home alone at night in a bad area? im also looking to go to school for nursing so i want to be close enough to atlanta to go to school. Any advice would be sooooooooooo appreciated!!!

thank you!!!!

I've mentioned that Conyers, Mcdonough, and even Covington are pretty diverse. I'm not sure how long it will remain that way because of "white flight" but most of the people moving to the area are families and older couples. Additionally there are qiute a number of interracial couples here. The commute to downtown Atlanta is about 35 minutes if there is no traffic, but during high traffic times I would suggest an alternate route than I20. There are also quite a few community colleges and sattelite schools that you may be interested in attending. McDonough is also great if you stay in the Ola school district. It's just a hop from South Rockdale where you can find some great schools. Lorraine and Barksdale elementary are pretty good. I've heard great things about General Davis middle and Heritage High. Not so sure about Memorial middle and Salem High. NEVER hear anything good. As far crime, it is everywhere and Conyers has its share. Unfortunately with the rise in population there is a rise in crime. I, however, feel safe and have not by God's grace and common sense been a victim. Both communities are very family oriented with lots of stay at home moms if that matters. Happy moving!
