I think we got a bunch of good stuff out of the Olympics. For one thing, there was the international exposure. We also got a new stadium and Centennial Olympic Park, which were biggies for downtown.

The Olympics may have had some effect on the "back to city" movement although that was already well under way. Of course it happened in non-Olympic cities too.

And who can ever forget those 50 chrome pickups circling the stadium during the opening ceremony? Eat your heart out Beijing!

I just don't see why people are complaining. They are probably replacing some old small ugly squat house. Old housing stock when we were not as well-off. Are there objections to the show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" making these homes?

Everyone is forgetting probably the first symbol of Atlanta winning the games.

Simply beautiful against Atlanta's skyline.

Way better than that pretender official Mickey D's torch.

Which one will be the first to come down?

That crazy ugly one on the connector is just, well, horrid. I can't believe to this day that it's survived 15 years. What in the world was it built for and who built it? I recall that it had a Sprint advertisement on it for a few years.
