Snellville
I am moving from Enfield CT to Snellville GA in the next few months, I am hoping that we are making a good choice. We are looking for a little slower pace and friendlier than here in CT. Any comments about Snellville?

It's definitely more friendly here than Ct. I moved from Ct. 11 years ago. I live close to Snellville. You can find just about any store you could imagine in Snellville. The traffic on 124 can be a bit much sometimes, but there are ways around that. The winters are much more tolerable than Ct. I would think you will find it welcoming and you will be pleased after the initial adjustment period of finding your way around. Pm me if I can be any further help. Best of luck to you with your move. And welcome to Georgia!

"Everybody's somebody in Snellville!!" Thats their slogan I lived in Snellville as a kid and it was pretty nice. Its gotten a little more crowded these days but its one of the decent areas of Gwinnett county. For the most part its pretty family oriented. Some of the schools have had recent issues with gangs such as South Gwinnett HS but there are also some decent schools nearby.

Aim for the northern parts of Snellville. Search the forums and you'll find tons of specific information concerning Snellville.

Stay away from Shiloh Schools
Be careful about the school district. My boys graduated from Shiloh High School a year ago and we were glad to leave the school behind. I hate to say it but the area is not what it used to be 6 or 7 years ago. We currently are moving to Washington state and the housing market is terrible. No one wants to move to this area across highway 124, and one reason is because of the schools. The best of luck to you.

I grew up in Snellville. In fact just moved from there a few months ago.It has changed a lot over the years and the schools are overcrowded,my oldest did very poorly there,it just isn't what it use to be.
I loved Grayson, was going to move there but Hubby got job offer down here.

I hope so CT is getting so bad I don't even want to drive down the street anymore everyone seems to have an attitutide. My town use to be very safe and now you can't even go to the mall because they are stealing purses. I can't wait to move.

cem03....people steal purses here too! There is a warning posted on the door at Kroger on Rosebud and 78 stating to keep your purse on you...not in the cart. Giving dishonesty an opportunity isn't wise no matter where you are. I will say that the people here, in general, are so much nicer. The pace is slower, so everyone is not so stressed out.(except in traffic, maybe)...And everyone seems happy to be here. I think if you move from up north, the fact you don't have to deal with snow will make you smile! Do your homework with finding a good school...you won't be sorry. I have said before, we love Walton county and my son really enjoys his High school, Loganville high. Good luck to you!

You can afford to make a life here, rather than just making a living!
