The License Tag Voters must be the same people that vote on the Peachtree Road Race shirts. My favorites never win!

i had to verify here : Untitled Page but thought i remembered that when i got my tag this year i went back to a regular tag instead of the spray and neuter one. two reasons. on renewals 10 dollars goes to the organization and 25 to the state. i would rather send 35 to the organization because of reason two...i got mine the first year they came out and was told it was a one time fee. sorry, but the state is already getting a tag fee of 20 for a decal in the years when there are not new tags in addition to the ad valorem tax. don't take from the pets as well.

must have been freudian...did not mean spray and neuter...meant spay and neuter.

That's probably because most of GEORGIA is rural. It's not an Atlanta tag, it's a GEORGIA tag. I would hazard a guess that most of the revenue from this state comes from agriculture, as it does for most of the southeast.

ATL GDP: 270B
GA GDP: 396B (which includes all other midsized cities and economies like UGA-athens, the port of savannah, aflac/synovus/tsys in columbus, etc)

Yes, but most of the GDP in Atlanta is from finance, investments and the like, in that people don't make anything. They make money from money, so unless you want a dollar bill on the tag, which is essentially what Atlanta is about, peaches seems more, uh, palatable.

I don't mind a tag that represents ALL of Georgia, but really, do peaches fill the bill? Didn't I read lately that SC produces more peaches than GA?

I like this one! I'm glad they picked it...and it's the one I voted for.

I don't think there is a need for a skyline--I think the tranquility of Georgia and Atlanta is what needs to be promoted.

Yeah, but SC is NEVER getting rid of that palmetto, so peaches are up for grabs. I'm not sure what's wrong with peaches. It's wholesome, graphically attractive and it is what the state is pretty much known for, unless you prefer peanuts and mules.

GA isn't an optimal climate for peaches--it is better in the Carolinas. I thought the 'Georgia Peach' thing had something to do with the first peaches of the year, but maybe I'm wrong.

We freaking rule the roost with pecans though (only Texas can match us) and those are a big $$$ export lately. Not too labor intensive, so the recent illegal immigrant crackdown has little impact.
