I have checked out both plates also and I totally disagree with architect77. At least with the standard alternate, you have far more cars that go with the plate color scheme (or lack of). The new standard design is too "podunk" and not refined enough imo, and sporting that plate would mean I approve of the unrefined design aesthetics.

As for not stamping the letters and numbers, whose fault is it when the paint starts to fade and or scratch off? I would be perfectly happy with a completely faded white plate, quite honestly.

I hate the standard plate also, but the other day I saw the white standard alternate in person. Something wasn't right about it. It almost looked homemade. So much white space, the county lettering so tiny, it looked like a shabby attempt to copy the past couple of plate designs, but with even less thought...

I agree with you. One looks like it was drawn by a school kid, and the other looks like someone printed it on their inkjet.

I walked past a new white alternate plate today and realized part of the problem. It's a matte finish, there's no reflective specks in the white at all. If any of you can tell me where these plates are made and who I could go talk to, I swear I'll go down there and ask them what the heck are they thinking with these ridiculous-looking plates.

I got my new "tag" today and chose the new more colorful one. I think it's pretty and I asked them at the office which tag was most popular and they said people have been asking for the colorful one. I'm thrilled to not have to have two plates on my car and I'm thrilled that the cost was tons cheaper than NY. You should all look on the bright side. Jeesh!!

My issue with it is the county sticker part... it would look a lot better without the county sticker or if they used a a different font (maybe a larger one??).

^i dont think there should even be a county sticker. we need to end the county v. county mentality. And removing the county from the license plate is the perfect place to start.

I agree with you that doing away with the county sticker is needed, although for me the reason is different. For me, there is no reason to identify to others where you live, and that you may not be a local resident. In Florida, they did away with the counties on plates after tourists were mugged and carjacked.

I think the primary reason counties have been on the plates is because in Georgia they are issued by the county and not by the state. In most states, license plates and registrations for motor vehicles are handled by a state agency and not counties.

I do agree that there should be no county. Who cares what county issues it? You know where you have to go to renew. I never would have expected that people here would be so county vs county. In NY we never talked about what county we lived in. It's really ridiculous.
