It will not matter if there is an accident because traffic will be jacked up anyway. Imo they don't really enforce being in the hov lane if everybody is trying to get around am accident as long as u get back in the regular lane once u pass the accident

The issue now is that the enforcement is automatic. If you drive past the cameras and the sensor does not read a Peach Pass, you are automatically mailed a citation with an accompanying fine.

I just like having options. I used the new lane this morning and found it quite handy. Most of the time I'm fine with the regular lanes but today I had to be somewhere in a hurry.

I know it costs a little more but as Boortz was saying this morning, life has winners and losers.

Life has winners and losers. Does that mean we have to cater to the winners all the time? The losers get stomped on enough by life...

I was on I-85 this morning. As I predicted, traffic in the general purpose lanes was measurably worse. To add to that, the traffic back-up spilled onto GA-316 even moreso than normal, and Breckenridge Blvd which runs parallel to I-85 also experienced more traffic than normal.

I have no problem with the idea of toll lanes. I do however, have a problem with taking an EXISTING (paid-for) lane and throwing a toll on it. I think that is why folks are so pissed off about this particular project. The I-75/575 project would ADD lane capacity through new construction but would not affect the general purpose lane capacity. That's the way it should be.

We have just been bent over by the feds and state on this one. I now must add additional time to my commute due to this clusterfark. I was almost late for work today even though I left at the same time.

Oh, I'm just kidding, RC -- sorry about that.

I couldn't resist because the "winners and losers" thing is exactly what Neal was railing about this morning as I pulled into the HOT lane.

Yeah, sorry. I'm not happy at all these days, seeing the continuing (and growing) split between the haves and the have-nots in this country. I'm sort of in the middle of it all, so I'm not directly impacted (my issues are due to other factors), but it still strikes me as a gross injustice.

Five years ago I didn't know anyone without a place to stay of their own. Now I probably know a half-dozen, including a sibling.

No, its very irrelevant. They don't plan on making money on the weekends when there is no traffic.

Its pretty simple actually. If you need an explanation, well, maybe you can find a job with the STRA.
