I think Mayor Reed got it right with GSU but the Atlanta Center is too far away. Besides, it would be better with one entity owning it, GSU. Let GSU take it over like Georgia Tech did with Tech Square. Make it a GSU community with dorms and classrooms, GSU police patrols the area, and retail open to the public.

An amazing idea. Pure and simple. Much better than any idea I've heard yet.

Yes, I don't know. I like the idea as well.

Lots of GSU students close by ... it might work ...

Unfortunately the place called the "Arts Center" is about 3 miles north. Underground needs more than just declaring it as an Arts District. It needs some sort of "arts" anchor and the ideal thing, the High Museum is up at the Arts Center. The anchor theater, The Fox, is about 2 miles north. At this point it would be creating something that is isn't there now.

Great idea! They'll have to do a better job of policing the area to make it work, however.

It's miles better than a Casino, but I think the Underground would be best used as a general city center, not in this specialized - and highly redundant - manner.

I think Woodruff park would make a better overall city center than underground would.

I like this idea, the rialto is close by so they could use that as a starting point.

There was a time in Atlanta's history when the hub of commercial activity was located south of Five Points, not north, on Whitehall Street. I would like to see more attention devoted to that area. And tear down that hideous parking garage that replaced the Kimball House.
