BUT, ATL only has one airport and it doesn't service some of the discount airlines at that... And there aren't any other airports nearby. Chattanooga is not near enough.
With San Fran having 3 major airports near, it works out finding deals out of the city. ATL does get good DELTA deals, but San Fran gets good other airline deals.
One of my friends who keeps trying to talk me out of moving back to Chicago (my hometown) said I should stay here because Atlanta has a great airport, to which I responded, "Chicago has two airports. What your point?" I don't get the airport thing. Doesn't every major city have an airport?

I'm black and Atlanta's "black culture" doesn't interest me lol. I do appreciate the history around the Civil Rights movement and the HBCU's that area here, but other than that, no thanks. I don't listen to rap, hip-hop or R&B and I'm not Christian so I don't go to black churches.

It's funny that people assume everyone is into Atlanta's black culture.

Make sure you move into an apartment verses buying so that you are not stuck anywhere until you have made up your mind. Good Luck

This is great advice.

Ahhh....got to love the nasty grams.

hahahaha...........that's funny. Welcome to the club. Life goes on dude!

Some major cities have better options than others. With that said San Francisco and all the other top 10 cities would all have plenty of cheap flight options and direct flights most places. It starts to make a difference when comparing a major city with a city like Tampa, Cincinnati, Nashville, etc. that is going to be a lot more expensive then the major airport hubs.

I really don't buy that criteria. San Francisco has a wonderful mix of restaurants all over the city in each of its neighborhoods and has a very active nightlife. I don't think Atlanta even comes close to matching San Francisco as a tourist destination. SF doesn't have a whole lot of chains in its downtown so it is doted by a rich and eclectic collection of restaurants and specialty stores. Sort of like Little Five Points but multiplied by 1000. SF has the walkability and density that many of you dream of for Atlanta.

SF weather is difficult to describe as it is different in different places. Atlanta's weather is much more stable and predictable. I suppose SF can be described as not getting too hot or too cold but temperatures tend sort of on the cool side.

US News ranked nightlife with SF ranking higher than Atlanta.

SF nightlife is weak plus the last call is 1:30am. You can't have a great nightlife with a 1:30am last call. Plus strippers cant get naked in California. Our nightlife is better, we have better women, our airport is better, our taxes are cheaper, we dont have to worry about when the big one will hit, we dont have to get up at 10am to watch football on Sunday, etc
