If for some reason you are dead set on living there, I would just take Pleasant Hill. It turns into State Bridge and then into Old Milton. I'm not sure where on Windward your husband will be working, however a number of roads cut off and go to Windward. I travel this way daily, however, I try to be at work by 7 or 7:30 to avoid most of the traffic. Your husband might want to do the same.

Pleasant Hill is designed to handle many more cars (but there are also many more cars).

I'm not sure what the rents are, but if you lived really close to your hubby's job you'd probably save $100-$200 on gas per month. I don't know if that is enough to make the difference or not.

If not, I'd be sure to look at apartments/townhomes near Peachtree Industrial and Pleasant Hill (or a little north or south off of Peachtree Industrial). This will move you a few miles closer to Alpharetta, but it will get you away from some of the traffic near Gwinnett Place Mall/I-85.

A place near Mcginnis Ferry and Peachtree Industrial would also work for a commute down Mcginnis Ferry as already was suggested.

I think being west by just a few miles will save 10 minutes of a 30-45 minute commute.
