I see every ones point, but BOB , or whatever your name is I am 33 ****ing years old and Single. SINGLE not married not with a woman not engaged. And I like meeting people out and about and until this scene changed it has made that very very difficult. I have a kid but he is not with me so that means nothing as far as my life here in Atlanta. This city has lost culture to a huge degree everything is top 40 or hip hop. I love electronic music and I like people that like to let there hair down and have fun. Buck head is an unfortunate situation like many other places like the legendary Backstreet and Rivera spots. Even Compound is straight rap and hip hop now that is just ridiculous. This is supposed to be an international city not a bible belt for college kids. I loved the freedom of just being able to have something to do like New YORK ! I moved here for that feel and now I feel like I am in Alabama or Tennessee. Vamp Girl has a great point, it has ruined the city in alot of ways. The violence, was just an excuse for the developers to make money that is it ! They could have done alot of things to prevent these things from happening. People made that choice to live in those areas they new there were clubs there when they leased or bought there property. I use to meet some really cool people celebrities and etc. Now it is just ****ing dead ! And MJQ is a club for hard legs and I am sick of it !

I used to go to the Chamber back in the day.
And Eleven 50 often to see Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and the like...never went into Buckhead, but Midtown was a great scene for music lovers (electronic, goth, jazz, alternative) but its a shadow of its former self.
Plus I really think the city doesn't have an identity at all, especially now...its full of materialistic people who have no love of history, culture or community, things that really make urban living special.
That's not a blanket statement for all people (before anyone jumps down my throat) but it is a fairly accurate generalization. The Regal cinemas, hip hop and FOX Sports grille do not make for an interesting urban environment.

I have to come back to Atlanta for Christmas soon and I'm already dreading it.
And yes the above are my opinions, and my opinions only.

Vamp Girl no offense to it I am a afro American male and I don't care for that **** ! Actually I moved from a Ghetto ASS place to get away from it to do different things. I agree there are no places to really go to hear interesting music anymore. Even people like Dj icey or Jen Lasher rarely come to Atlanta. I went to a IAMX show and a SHe wants Revenge show at "THE VINYL AND LOFT". And i have to say that was the best time I has had in a while in this place. But the thing about that was there were still very few faces there ? Expecially at the IAMX SHOW ! And 5 years ago I am sure there would have been more people than that. That is how you really know the city is not as international as it once was ! Where are you currently at now ?

I agree with one thing and that is that the city should not be regulating bar hours. If somebody works late and they want to go out at 1AM and drink, dance and play pool, they ought to be able to do so. But at the same time anybody that causes a disturbance, plays loud music or litters outside the club should be hauled to jail and left there for a minimum of 5 days on the first offense and their vehicle should be impounded in lieu of a $1000 fine to get it out. The Atlanta police need to take a no non sense approach to people disturbing the peace of others like the Vegas cops do. You don't hear loud cars, stereos and motorcycle pipes in Vegas. There is a reason for that!

Arish: I moved to New Orleans. There is everything and anything here. Hiphop, jazz, blues, electronica, goth, rock, country. And you cannot beat the hours, of the culture, history or community.

Holy mother of gawd that band SUCKS!!! I guess I should say no offense, but it'll probably rub wrong. I just can't stand 3rd rate bands who are a copy of a copy of a copy sounds so lame (the Cure via Joy Divison via Interpol via the Editors via the next Johnny Come Lately).

I disagree that this city has no places to go and see a good band. Not sure about clubbing it since those days are long gone (nothing like a one year old baby to cut quick that kind of life).

Vamp, you really hate Atlanta enough to dread coming back for a Christmas visit? It's not THAT bad here

Well, New Orleans would definitely be my kind of spot only if the job market was better. I moved to Atlanta because # 1 I am a business man 1st. And I heard that New Orleans has some racial issues as well. So I guess that is what scared me the most. Vamp girl I don't no what nationality you are but bi racial/afro American individuals just can't move everywhere ! As far as what the other guy said he is absolutely correct. They could have handled the noise and **** ! But the Atlanta cops are just lazy as hell ! So they took the easy way out the easy way out ! And the easiest thing to do was to just shut the clubs down. Congratulations to whomever has the one year old baby and yes I do agree that will change everything. There are places to see cool bands when cool bands come. But my biggest problem is I don't like to have to make a effort to go out before everything closes. I mean is a saturday now and it is 11:49pm. I am not ready to go just yet, but I know if I want go I need to do it now ! Which 90% of the time I just end up staying in because I hate to rush just to go to a club. 11/2 hours is hardly enough time to get loose and let your hair down. So I have really just given up unless I am willing to hit the street at 1200am it is worthless ! And most of the time if you go to a late movie it is past 12am ! This is the worst situation I have ever seen for a so called international melting pot !

Oh, she wants revenge is the best band in the world they keep the same groove on every song. But Kenna was opening and I was just extremley bored and that is how bad I really wanted some atmosphere. I mean places like "THE CHAMBER and BACKSTREET don't exist anymore. All you have are college clubs now !

Okay, you got me on this one! Personally, I always hated going to a club to see a band and the main act wouldn't come on stage until midnight. The only time I ever liked this was when I saw The Ramones at the Roxy and wanted more music afterwards and hit the Star Bar for another show (Silos).
You guys are definitely talking about a completely different experience with wanting to stay out most of the morning at a place like The Chamber.

There are times I have to be at work at 5am and I always laugh driving by this one strip club and the parking lot is full at 4:30am.

Oh, and thanks for not bringing on your wrath about my She Wants Revenge comment. With so many fantastic bands out there I was disappointed to see these guys get attention. Especially when just a couple of years ago these guys were doing a very different style of music... it's as if they saw what other bands like The Rapture and Interpol were doing and jumped on the bandwagon.
