Default What are the neighborhoods to avoid in Atlanta?

I am looking to buy somewhere that I can get around either by rail or bike as I don't drive so it needs to be safe enough to do those 2 things. I used to come to clubs in little 5 points and would love to be around that area, though I think it's probably gotten pricey nowadays. I see cheap fixer uppers in areas like grove point etc but don't know the neighborhoods by name so any info on the safe cheap areas and the ones to avoid would be really helpful.

Thanks!

How fast are you on that bike and how far can you ride at top speed?

It's a loaded question because it depends so much on personality.

How much of an urban pioneer are you willing to be?

Some people would say to avoid Kirkwood. Others will tell you how much they love it. Some would say Old Fourth Ward is still dangerous. Others will tell you to stop being a wimp and enjoy it for what it is. I even saw some people on here talking about how much they love living in West End, which has traditionally had a pretty universal consensus to avoid at all costs.

So you never know because it depends on you!

Save yourself, and the rest of us, some time & effort here: why not just avoid Atlanta all together, eh? Just go elsewhere----please!!

Ciao!

Let me go ahead and tell you how this is going to go. Avoid anywhere other than East Cobb, North Fulton, Peachtree City, Forsyth or anywhere that's not at least 95% white or white/asian. All schools other than these areas are absolutely terrible and your kids will fail at life. I think that about sums up the norm on here for the most part.

Just about as reliable as the people who will jump in and tell you not to listen to those trying to keep you out of the areas with what most people would consider negative qualities!
