Agreed that we need more foot patrols, segways, bikes, etc. I'd be interested in seeing the stats on how many of the victims were on the phone, texting, surfing, etc. How many have backpacks with ipods, ipads, macs, pcs, etc.?
Part of being anywhere is to be aware of your surroundings. Just hoping that everyone does.

Looks like the NRA is going to bat for the right of Tech students to pack heat on campus.

Concealed carry on campus is a great idea. I fully support it. There are states that allow this and despite what the doom and gloom anti-gun crowd that opposes such measures would lead you to believe, there are not old-west style shoot outs occurring between classes in these states.

I like the fact that if two students or a student and professor get into it they can just settle it right then and there. When everybody is armed it keeps people from mouthing off.

Firearms are the great equalizer. You pick on a wimpy kid or a woman or some homeless dude and they'll turn around and put a barrel between your eyes. EOD.

Is there any evidence that conceal and carry reduces or prevents crime? I mean that as a genuine question.
