As a new resident in Forsyth county, I heard about the election for tomorrow. It will build a new courthouse, jail, and fund some road projects.

If you are a resident, and planning on voting tomorrow, will you vote yes or no? Why?

I'm trying to get up to speed on this proposal. Thanks.

Yes, I'm Planning to vote. Not sure how im going to vote, We need a new jail, and a bigger (more court rooms) courthouse, the courts are spread out all over. (with the added cost of securing all the seperate rooms/buildings). The problem I have with it they all ways seem to want to build a Taj Mahal, not build X with the plan to grow to Y by adding on as needed. Also Georga law requres the jail be with in the city limits (of any city) but here that means in Cumming. SPace in Downtown Cumming is limited, so there is very little room to grow for the future. 5? years ago the county bought land (Behind the hobby lobby) but found out the land was not buildable to put the jail/courthouse on. My Fear is just about the time bonds are paid'ed off. They will come back and say we need to expand the jail/courthouse, but can't do it where they are because they are landlocked.

Voting NO and this is why. I am also a new resident. I don't want to pay more taxes when there are other options. They do not need a new courthouse or a new jail. Last SPLOST was for a community pool that no one can afford to join. The county has not realized it's growth. People in charge need to understand there are new people here that are going to question them.
