Bible-thumping Christian here and this is exactly right. It's not the government's job, or right to legislate morality.

The US is still a free society, and not all people view Sunday as the Sabbath. Heck, not even all Christians do, ie 7th Day Adventists.

And, when in doubt . . . always, ALWAYS put it to the public vote. Let the people decide . . . not the politicians.
