3 more cities to start Sunday package liquor sales this weekend *| ajc.com

Three more cities, in Fulton and Gwinnett counties, confirmed Friday they will allow Sunday alcohol sales by local retailers to begin this weekend.

Union City in south Fulton County, and Auburn and Braselton in Gwinnett County, will allow the sales after residents voted in referendums Nov. 8 to approve the practice.

Here's the latest list of cities near Atlanta to begin Sunday sales this weekend: Alpharetta, Auburn, Avondale Estates, Braselton, College Park, Duluth, East Point, Grayson, Jonesboro, Lawrenceville, Milton, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Snellville, Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Union City, Villa Rica and Woodstock.

I went out to Avondale Estates around 8pm to buy some symbolic booze. The only place selling was the Shell station. I got a six pack of Coors Light. I hate Coors Light. But my mother in law is in town and she likes it.

The place was just about sold out, too!

City of Atl is Jan 1.

Most of the metro counties will have to wait until after the March election before they can have sales.

Brent, most of the counties didn't want to have to pay for the special election cost so they decided to wait until March and make a two for one deal.

I don't understand why the cities and county voting cycles are out of sync though. It doesn't make much sense to me.
