You went in the summer when the weather is nice w/long sleeves, no jacket. Have you been to Alaska in the winter? 6-9 months of below freezing weather and complete darkness. It will drive any non-native completely insane and many get depressed because of the unfamiliar sunrise schedule. Unless you're in one of the major cities, health care and schools are terrible. Most of the smaller towns only have small clinics and patients needing the services of a fully staffed hospital are air-lifted to one of the regional hospitals (there are only about a dozen in the state, and AK is 10x the size of GA, so imagine if GA only had 1 major hospital). Don't want to scare you away, but I just want to let you be aware of these things in case you didn't know.
