Im thinking about moving to canton co. panhandle valley community, a division of legacy homes . how is the area? what are some of the opportunities for registered nurses. i specialize in ob/mother-baby unit. what are my chances of getting a f/t 12 hour night shift position? will i benefit from being a staff nurse or traveler? Do you know anything about lovejoy school dist. how far is the city from canton? whats traffic like? will i do better off working in canton rather than the city? which hospitals are the best and pays the most? Do you know of any good nursing agencies?

I can answer a few of your questions. Canton is about an hour from Atlanta, but possibly a little more from the hospital that would best suit you which is Northside. Northside is a hospital that (I believe) is all pediatrics and delivery. Everyone I know that is even in the vicinity of that hospital goes there to have their babies. Your chances of getting work there (or even at a North Georgia smaller hospital) are fairly good if you've got experience and your previous employer will provide a good letter of reference or something of that sort. There's a nursing shortage last I heard and whenever I went onto the hospital websites looking for admin jobs I saw a lot of nursing positions. I would find a place to work before I found a home if I were you. If you do end up working in the city you probably wouldn't want to travel from Canton. There are so many houses available that finding a home will probably prove a lot easier than finding a job, so you should look for a nursing position before you do anything close to buying a home to make sure that you aren't setting yourself up for a 3 hour or more commute.

I don't know about the school district, sorry. Good luck though!

As a nurse you will have no problem finding a job, especially nights.
Full time staff or agency all depend on your priorities. Money or benefits?
Wellstar hospital is great...Per Diem rate is $41 after weekend and night dif it comes up to $47.50 per hour. Even if you are per diem they offer 401k.
If u do contract you are guaranteed your hours but if u get cancelled they still pay you for the day. I am not sure what the salary is for contract.
If you go fulltime let them know i sent you. RNB2875@aol.com
