This is just all flavors of weird. A cricket stadium? Moonbeam boss still involved? This is Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown to kick.

If they want to put in a cricket venue, how about on the land currently occupied by the abandoned driving range just down the road on Satellite near Boggs Rd?

It gets weirder.

The company who wants to do it doesn't even have a website. Nothing they have planned in other cities has happened. The owner can not be reached for comment.

Gwinnett officials couldn't possibly be dumb enough to fall for this.... Could they?????

Pandya could not be immediately reached Tuesday. A website that had previously been set up for Global Sports Ventures, which was promoting a multi-city professional cricket league two years ago, had been shut down and a website for CricRealty could not be immediately located. An attempt to reach Pandya through Facebook was not immediately successful.

I'd say more desperate than dumb.

I think people (developers) are mistaking this for being a bad area. If they would just build an Avalon modern mixed use type thing here to replace the mall, people would go there, and the area would be reborn. Duluth is a mostly wealthy area. And there are nearby nicer parts of Lilburn/Snellville/Lawrenceville. And Berkeley Lake and Johns Creek and Suwanee are near.

Honestly, build an Asian/international-themed mixed use outdoor plaza thing. I'm a white dude and I would go to that in a heartbeat.

And honestly the bones of that mall are fine. I wish they could keep the mall part, and just replace the big box department stores with apartment buildings and hotels and office buildings. And get all new interesting and international stuff in the food court.
