Back in the 1990's I went to the Peach Drop twice and enjoyed it both times. I was a kid, so maybe it wasn't as fun as I remember, but I thought it was cool. The atmosphere was festive and the crowd was fine. Again, this was 15-20 years ago, so it may be different now, but I would reccomend it. In fact, this year I'm going to the Peach Bowl with friends and we are thinking of heading to the Peach Drop if the game ends in time.

Can anyone tell me how long the walk takes from the Georgia Dome to underground?

I would concur.

I've been to the Peach Drop the last 4 years in a row and I've always felt pretty safe. It's one of the few occasions where Atlanta Police, The Capitol Police, MARTA Police, U.S. Dept of Homeland Security Police, GSU Police, Georgia Dome/World Congress Center Police, and Georgia Tech Police actually work together for a change. The only crime that typically happen at these events is from stupid thugged-out idiots fighting with each other over bullcrap. White folks need not worry.

But don't take my word for it, let's see what Aaron McGruder has to say on this.

The Boondocks - ***** Moment 1/2 - YouTube

Notice how the white guy easily brushes off the nonsense starting at 01:18 and continues on his merry way. That's typical the only level of interaction will happen amongst different people at your average new Year's Eve event downtown Atlanta.

Now go forth white people, and enjoy the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta!

about 10-15 minuetes. I went to the peach drop after the LSU-Georgia Tech peach bowl back in 09 and it worked perfectly.

That sounds like a very nervous nelly indeed.

Every New Year's Eve Peach Drop I went to always had the security officers, police cadets, and police officers of nearly every law-enforcement entity in the downtown manning checkpoints and checking bags for firearms & explosives. There was check points all up & down Decatur/Marietta streets and Peachtree street. You'd almost think that the U.S. President was visiting from the observation of the army of police that were typically out there.

Oh well, I guess.

Always had a really good time @ the peach drop and have never had any trouble (been several years off and on since about 2001). The ONLY thing that I would have to complain about is the literal stampede to get back on Marta after it's over. That is not a very pleasant experience.
