So how do you break in? And please don't say as an extra. Most extras don't make it as actors or anything else in film. I'd like to be behind the scenes, ie: producing, editing, etc. So how does one get in? My degree is in Finance, not that it would help.

Atlanta loses Kevin Bacon’s ‘The Following’ and J.J. Abrams’ ‘Revolution.’ Is ‘Teen Wolf’ to follow? | Radio & TV Talk

We are a cheap first date, but not appropriate for marriage, perhaps?

And this isn't an Atlanta incentive, it's a state of Georgia one. Last time I checked Georgia does have a coast and far more historic character in cities like Savannah than North Carolina or Cali could dream of.

There are strong points in Georgia outside of the of the incentives that can't be matched.

Don't kid yourself. Once the money is gone, the big productions will be gone. It's all about the money. Clearly you have never been to much of California if you think it has cities that lack character.

Thank you for being the voice of reason in this thread and for NOT drinking the tainted peach kool-aid.

California does look like California, though. Its old historic places are very Spanish.
Atlanta has a lot of neighborhoods that could pass for New England, DC, or the midwest.

Agreed.

Does anyone really pay attention to where a movie was filmed?

I took my kid to the 3 stooges movie this weekend (still playing at the dollar theater), and I had no idea it was filmed in atlanta until i saw the marriot in the background of one shot. Other than that, it never crossed my mind again.

Not a knock on atlanta, but 'anywhere' USA can be found, well, anywhere.

And that's the way businesses work, of course. I would think the pro-business folks in the state would be thrilled with this attitude...

FYI --They are gearing up here in Savannah to start filming this month on "CBGB" about the famed NYC club of the same name with an impressive cast of big-name stars. Another big project (name escapes) is underway in Macon. And the entire town of Senoia has been taken over for the 3rd season of "The Walking Dead." it's not all ITP ...

A lot of times, you just have to know somebody already in the industry, and you would probably have to start out as a production assistant, if you did get in.
