Hi Everyone!

My family will be moving to Johns Creek this summer and needed some assistance in choosing a summer day camp for our 6 yr old son. Growing up, I attended a great summer day camp on Long Island, NY (age 4 until I was a CIT) and am finding it increasingly difficult to find similar camps like the one I attended.

We're looking for a program that incorporates daily swimming, arts and crafts, varied sports, music, nature exploration, and possible pony rides. I want to try and avoid themed/one activity-only camps. I think at this age, varied activities are better suited for him.

Do you have any recommended camps your kids have used? Heard of any good ones I should look into? We want to get a head start so he's enrolled once the moving truck arrives Maybe you know a camp that may not include all the amenities I mentioned, but your kids loved it. Would love to hear from all.

Not sure what a camp like this costs, but I guess our budget is around $375/week. Please include average cost.

Thanks in advance.

High Meadows meets what you are looking for. IT is a great camp. It is in Roswell and they actually run buses I think from different parts of metro Atlanta.

lastminutemom is right. High Meadows is great; if you use the bus, you drop them at about 8:30 and pick them up at 4:30. Great mix of activities. It's a three-week session (think you can sign up for two sessions if you wish; we just do one).

Thank you LMM and CMM. I'll look into High Meadows. Anyone else have any suggestions I can compare?

The YMCA on Preston Ridge in Alpharetta has a day camp (and a pool). My friend used it for her boys the past couple of years, and they enjoyed it.

If you want something closer to Johns Creek, and dont necessarily need a single solution, check out the following:
Suwanee Sports Academy, esp if you are interested in basketball
Swim Atlanta
Many daycare centers on McGinnis offer camps, with daily trips to places around Atlanta
Lifetime Fitness has its own camps
