I was just in Atlantic station during the winter beer carnival. I didn't see any thugs at that time, when i go at night there may be a few--- but they mind their own. There are streetcops out so not much to worry about here.

AS has more gay males than anything. The gay population is much more noticeable than the thug population, i think.and they are typically nice people.

STOP HIJACKING MY THREAD! If you want to DISCUSS how CONSERVATIVE the NEW YORK TIMES is (yeah, I said it--the NYT is CONSERVATIVE--they support a NUCLEAR America), take a HIKE!

This is supposed to about the turn around of Atlantic Station from a monument to corporate greed to a truly urban district that meshes seamlessly with the WESTSIDE and the NEW Atlanta. More and more intowners are going there after we BOYCOTTED the development for selling out to CORPORATE fat-cats and being a MECCA for those who WORSHIP MATERIALISM. Now that the CHAINS and MATERIALISTS have been BANNED, intowners are HAPPY to go to Atlantic Station.

This success story and rebirth of a FAILED development a testament to what SELLS in the NEW Atlanta! Developers, take NOTE--this is not 2005 anymore!

Atlantic Station has made a COMPLETE turnaround! Awesome news!

Atlantic Station is looking more and more westside-ish. AWESOME news that makes us eastsiders green with envy!
I apologize for contributing to a sidetrack. This really does sound like good news for the Atlantic Station area, though, and I'm glad to see positive news!

I was also there on Saturday for the beer carnival. I had quite a bit of fun with my friends. I never felt remotely nervous about my surroundings.

I don't go to AS very often. Not because I'm scared, it simply just doesn't have the stores or entertainment options that would draw me in. If that changed, however, I might just come more!

While I'm very pleased with the changes in Atlantic Station over the last few years, I'd hardly say it has moved away from being "Corporate" and "Materialist." It's still all about consumerism. It's a little more local than before, but it's predominantly made of chains still. Even soon-to-be tenants like Yard House, which has more character than Fox Sports Grille, is fundamentally a national chain.

And I too was at the Beer Carnival last weekend. The wind/cold was insane, but other than that, it was a great event at a great location. It was nice to drink a variety of craft beers and then walk down a bit to Target right afterward.

My wife and I went to the movies there Saturday and had a very nice time walking around the shops and plaza. I always take visitors there, mostly for IKEA, but we always end up walking around as I explain the history behind Atlantic Station. The shuttle connections are nice but streetcars need to be ran, in the future, in the current bus lanes of 17th street. Overall I like the outdoor experience of AS, just wish the builders used real brick. That fake crap is horrible. AS is better than any mall OTP.

Really? Are you for real?

It's still a mall, bro.

This is no scientific count, but by my estimate the favorable opinions of AS are running about 3-1 on here, save for one avowed racist, one angry Techie, one socialist Kirkwood resident and a dumb ass kid from Denver who's probably never even been to Atlanta in the first place. Not bad.

Even if I was not interested in a single business or residence in AS, it is such a vast improvement to the overall fabric of the city compared to the dingy brownfield site that was there before, you gotta love it if you love Atlanta. Why anyone would be anti this development is beyond me.
