Are you sending in your resume to jobs posted online or on the hospital website? I have a friend who was in that position and she decided to just call local clinics and doctor's offices to see if they were hiring. She ended up finding a place that was about to put a job posting up and she got the job. Sometimes it takes more aggressive tactics.

The job market is kinda rough out here. I can tell you that getting a job down here is often about who you know. It's not like NY and things are slower. When i first moved down South, i thought I'd land a job in a few weeks, but it took 6 months! That was in Florida in 2004, but coming here was not that much better, as far as finding a job was concerned. I'm trying to get a job at a hospital too. I am planning to go into nursing (maybe) or some other area of healthcare. I sent Gwinnett medical center my resume thru their website. I have to call to follow up but when I did call the first time, the HR rep was not the friendliest. Anyway, be patient, be proactive, and think outside the box, and hopefully something will come up soon. By the way, one thing you should know, this is a "right to work state." If you don't know what that is, google it. In a nutshell, it means your employer can fire you whenever the hell they want. it's different down here. It will take time to adjust. Good luck!

I really think it's the types of jobs, rather than the overall job market in Atlanta. I'm in IT, and there seems to be plenty of jobs out there, as well as the companies i've worked for, can't seem to find enough people to fill the spots.

I stand corrected. it definitely depends on what type of work you do. there are certain areas that will always be in demand. my comment to original poster was based upon her scenario.

With your experience, you should have no problem getting a job at a doctor's office. Seems like you have only tried to get a job at one place? There are LOTS of doctor's office around Duluth. Also try John's Creek (near Duluth) - they have recently built a new medical center and you would be going against traffic in the morning. There is a new Kaiser Permanente facility being built in Sugar Hill. It's also near Duluth and you would be going against traffic there as well.

I agree with Twinkletoes. There are so many medical doctors in the area. Emory Johns Creek just opened last year. There are medical facilities being built on peachtree industrial road and Pleasant Hill road right now. Also, there are so many doctor facilities in Johns Creek. May not be hospital but a lot of private practices on Medlock Bridge in Johns Creek. You could also try Northside hospital which is near 400, which is also not far away.
