We are considering a move from the CT shoreline to Alpharetta and are interested in the approximate cost of air conditioning a 4,000 square foot home. The utility rates are the highest in the nation in CT and I am interested in how they compare to Georgia. Also, how many months do you need to use air conditioning? Thanks!

Depending on your tollerance of the heat and the contruction of the home, I'd estimate $300-500. I have a friend that keeps her house warm but it is because she likes it that way. I know of others that like to keep it grocery store cold. The season is from May to Sept with July and August being the hotest.

But the winters make up for it, they are fairly mild with no snow. Ok, maybe a dusting every couple of years.
